Botswana
Botswana is known as the jewel in Africa's crown; a country that
remains for the most part just as the first explorers found it -
untouched and unspoilt, home to some of Africa's most diverse wildlife
and stunning scenery. Big game is prolific throughout Botswana; elephant
herds in their thousands roam the plains, numbers unrivalled throughout
the continent. Vast concentrations of plains game migrate across the
Kalahari, following routes inbedded in their genes.
Prides of lion dominate the riverbeds of the dry Savuti Channel
whilst leopard and even caracal stalk the papyrus swamps of the Okavango
Delta. The sheer quality of game is breathtaking, matched only by the
beauty of its surroundings; rivers thread their way from the North of
the country, fanning out over the lillie covered flood plains of the
Okavango. Further South, salt pans stretch as far as the eye can see,
breeding life and flourishing pink at the first drop of rain. This is
Africa at its most enthralling; rugged and entirely beautiful.
